International Academy of Dispute Resolution (USA)
In 2002, a group of mediators established the International Academy of Dispute Resolution. The goal of the Academy has been to create an awareness of mediation, that there is a better way to resolve differences than the adversarial system, which tells society that differences can be resolved only if you are prepared to go to battle. Former Chief Justice Warren E. Burger declared that our legal system “has become too costly, too painful, too destructive, too inefficient for a truly civilized people.”
