She is also the lead mediation trainer of the Mediators\u2019 Training Institute in Greece (Bar of Athens)<\/strong><\/a>. Elena has served as a regular member at the Mediators\u2019 Accreditation Committee at the Greek Ministry of Justice and was appointed as a member of the Law Drafting Committee on Mediation, which reformed mediation law in 2018.<\/p>\n Elena is a member of the International Advisory Board for the Office of the Ombudsman for the United Nations for Funds and Programmes<\/strong><\/a> having oversight of the Ombudsman\u2019s Global Mediation Panel. She has been recently selected also to serve as a Mediation Expert on the implementation of CEPEJ programmes at the Council of Europe European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice. She is the President Elect of the International Academy of Dispute Resolution<\/strong><\/a> (INADR – Chicago, USA), and sits as a member of the General Sub-Committee of the International Mediation Institute (IMI) Appraisal Committee (Netherlands).<\/p>\n Elena holds an LLM and a PhD in Law, has many years of experience in counselling, negotiations and litigation and has been an Expert Advisor to the Hellenic Parliament since 2004. She is an accredited Civil, Commercial, Family and Workplace Mediator (UK, USA, Greece) with extensive advanced training in mediation and negotiations (UK & USA – Harvard Negotiation Institute) and a trained panellist at the Hellenic\u00a0Ombudsman\u00a0for Banking-Investment Services.<\/p>\n Elena is the co-founder and co-owner of Greek Mediation Institute, one of the leading Greek not for profit organizations for the promotion of mediation and works as a mediation expert and consultant on European and International projects (ADR Center \u2013 Member of Jams International (Italy<\/strong><\/a>) and as a conflict resolution expert (Technical Assistance on the Reform of Greek Judicial System -SRSS, EU & EBRD funded projects etc).<\/p>\n Elena teaches law subjects and ADR in Greece and Cyprus, acts as a lecturer in national and international trainings and has trained over 1500 mediators worldwide. She has extensive experience in designing and delivering specialized training programs and has been a pioneer in Peer Mediation Programs at Schools in Greece.
